Well Dweller Looter's Shop: Stock, Prices and Trinket Slots

Looter is Well Dweller's only merchant, and he is the sink for every piece of currency you pick up. He sells trinkets, oil vessels and trinket slots, and the slot supply is the reason currency matters at all: 100 slots at 250 currency each is roughly 25,000 currency for the shelf alone.

This page is the stock list, the unlock condition, and the order most players should buy in.

How Well Dweller's Looter shop unlocks

Meet Looter in Hunter's Cabin, the second area of the game. From that point on he is available inside save tents, and the stock is the same list wherever you meet him.

Two consequences worth knowing before you plan a shopping trip:

• You do not have to find a specific tent. Looter travels with you in the sense that his shop is part of the tent system, so buying is a matter of currency, not of location.
• There is no point of no return. After the final boss you return to the map and keep full access, so nothing in the shop is a use-it-now decision - except that the earlier you buy utility items, the longer they pay you back.

Looter is also a story thread, not just a shop. Helping him in Hunter's Cabin leads to the Flaming Vessel, and his four scattered parts are a late-game quest gated by the Golden Gate Key - the achievement for finishing it is Stitched Up. Guide coverage prices six of Looter's trinkets, and they are not the best six - they are the utility end of the catalog:

Those six together cost 3,000 currency - and at 250 / 350 / 450 / 550 / 600 / 800 they form a deliberate price ladder from cheap utility to the strongest item.

This is probably not the whole shelf. The in-game shop screen we have (this page's hero image) shows eight trinket tiles plus the slot tile, so the shop holds more trinket items than the six that anyone has priced. Those six are the ones we can put a number against; the rest needs an in-game check.

Trinket slots

Trinket Slot, In Stock: 100, Cost: 250. That is read off the in-game shop screen rather than rounded from a review: 100 slots at 250 currency each, roughly 25,000 currency for the full shelf, and the single biggest purchase in the game.

Two figures that matter when you are deciding how many to buy:

• The achievement threshold is 50 slots (Fifty Slots). That is a milestone, not a maximum.
• One in-game gate asks for 80 slots, so buying slots is normal progression rather than optional shopping.

Players report finishing the game with slots in the low hundreds while Looter still had stock left, so the shelf is not a constraint you need to manage - your wallet is.

Oil vessels from Looter

Looter also sells additional oil vessels, the healing resource you spend in combat. That makes him the fallback when you are stuck on a boss: currency buys both durability and slots, and on a hard fight vessels are the more immediate purchase. Where Well Dweller's shop currency comes from

Currency is earned, not found in chests:

• Killing enemies - the base source, and what Weathered Coin, Postage Stamp and Bird-Shaped Button multiply.
• Smashing jars and pots - they hold a lot of currency, and some sit in secret passages, which is where Well Dweller Glass Eye pays for itself.
• Combat challenge replays - clearing the same challenge again without taking a hit awards 100 currency. Take a hit and the run ends with a few hearts instead.
• Spirit returns - returning spirits to Night Garden awards currency, trinkets or slots as well as counting toward Full Flock.

What to buy from Looter, in order

This order follows the reasoning two guides give, not a personal preference:

1. Glass Eye (450). The cheapest item that finds you more things, including currency caches. Buy it as early as you can afford it.
2. Trinket slots (250 each). Early slots are cheap relative to their value, because more slots means running more utility at once.
3. A damage trinket if you are struggling. Silver Ring is the strongest of the six, at the highest price.
4. Weathered Coin (600) only if you plan to keep farming. One tips video explicitly advises against buying it early, on the grounds that the bonus is small at the point where you would buy it - the trade-off is analysed on Well Dweller Weathered Coin.
5. Oil vessels when a boss wall is the actual problem. They are consumed, unlike everything else on this list.

One patch note that affects this page: the September 26 update fixed the Looter's Shop achievement so it no longer triggers only when you buy trinkets - other shop purchases count too. If you bought slots first and never got the achievement, that is why. Details on Well Dweller patch notes.
