Well Dweller Weathered Coin: More Currency From Every Kill

Weathered Coin costs 5 trinket slots and 600 currency, and it makes enemies drop more currency. In a game where almost everything else is also bought with currency, that is either the best investment in the run or a waste of 5 slots, depending on when you buy it.

What Weathered Coin does

Uniquely among the currency trinkets, Weathered Coin works on every kill. The alternatives are conditional: Bird-Shaped Button gives extra currency only at low health, and Postage Stamp raises the rate for each enemy you kill in a row without taking damage.

Why currency is the bottleneck for Weathered Coin

The slot economy is what makes currency matter. Looter's shop stocks 100 trinket slots at 250 currency each - a figure read off the in-game shop screen - which is roughly 25,000 currency for slots alone - and that is before the six trinkets he sells, which come to 3,000 currency between them:

When Weathered Coin pays for itself

Buy it early if you are a completionist. Currency is spent throughout the run at tents you will pass anyway, and 5 slots of a farming trinket in the early game is a real cost but a bounded one - you are not yet at the point where every slot is contested.

Do not buy it before Glass Eye. Glass Eye costs less (450), uses one slot fewer, and finds you extra trinkets and currency caches rather than accelerating drops. Two guides recommend Glass Eye as the earliest purchase; the same tips video that recommends Glass Eye explicitly does not recommend Weathered Coin early on, on the grounds that the bonus is small at the point where you would buy it.

Unequip it once you are done buying. Late in a run, when you have the slots you want and the trinkets you want, Weathered Coin is 5 slots doing nothing. Swap it for damage.

The upgrade case: at significant the bonus is at its best, but upgrading costs 300 currency (150 with The Queen's Coin) plus one Workshop Token, and Workshop Tokens are also needed for damage trinkets. Only spend a token here if you plan to keep farming.
