Glass Eye costs 4 trinket slots and 450 currency, and it is the only trinket in the game that shows you something the room is hiding: hidden passages become visible. It has no upgrade tiers.
What Glass Eye does
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Slot cost | 4 |
| Upgrade tiers | 0 - no workshop upgrades |
| In-game effect | Makes hidden passages visible |
The important detail is what "visible" means here. With the trinket equipped, a hidden passage is shown but darkened - it still looks like a wall until you know to look at it, and it does not announce itself with a marker. Without the trinket, the same wall is indistinguishable from scenery.
That is why the trinket is an exploration tool rather than a collectible tracker: it tells you a route exists, not what is behind it. For the item-tracking half, see Well Dweller Rusted Compass: find collectibles in a room.
Where to buy Glass Eye

Why Glass Eye is an early buy
Two independent guides recommend buying Glass Eye as early as you can, for the same reason: hidden passages are how the game hides caches, trinkets and currency, and the sooner you can see them the fewer rooms you have to re-check later.
That makes it a front-loaded purchase. Buying it at 450 currency in the early game, when 450 is a meaningful sum, saves a full sweep of the map in the endgame, when re-walking every room costs hours. The same logic applies to Well Dweller Weathered Coin, which pays you back in currency rather than time.
When to take Glass Eye off
The trinket does nothing in combat. Once you have finished exploring a region, unequip it and spend the 4 slots on damage or defence - there is no cost to leaving a room and coming back, because Well Dweller has no point of no return and you keep full access to the map after the final boss.
Two things that reduce its value:
- The in-game map already marks rooms you have visited, and late-game map markers can reveal uncollected objects in rooms you have been in. Glass Eye covers the rooms and passages you have not been in yet.
- Secret passages are not the only gated routes. Some walls open from a lever elsewhere in the region, which no trinket reveals - see Well Dweller blocked progress: gate and locked doors.
