Once The Drains is finished, Well Dweller stops forcing an order and starts handing out objectives. These four encounters are the ones players meet while chasing Golden Feathers, family members and movement upgrades.
Two of them are unusual for the genre: the Forest King is won over rather than killed, and the Creature from the Deep unlocks a vehicle instead of an achievement. The Starsinger is the only fight here whose health and phase values are published, and Lida is the one most people meet by accident.
Starsinger boss fight
The Starsinger sits at The Lookout Tower, and it is the boss whose numbers are actually published: unlike most encounters in Well Dweller, the phase threshold and health values for this fight are documented from the release build.
That makes it one of the few bosses you can plan around rather than discover.
Difficulty and phase data
| Difficulty | Starting HP | Phase two trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 540 | at or below 225 HP |
| Normal | 570 | at or below 285 HP |
| Hard | 570 | at or below 285 HP |
Phase two does not begin the instant you cross the threshold - a transition plays out first, then the second phase starts. If you are trying to time a Flaming Vessel or a healing window, that transition is the free damage window worth using.
Getting there and what it gates
- The fight is at The Lookout Tower, and the tower's routes lean on Climb and Slingshot - several pages and paths in the same area need them, so treat the tower as a mid-game region rather than an early one.
- Defeating the Starsinger provides a Golden Feather, one of the seven the Queen's Castle gate checks. The reward is placed at the highest point of the Lookout Tower.
- The achievement is Song of the Stars.
Because it awards a Feather, this is one of the boss fights you should not defer: the Feather count, not your level, is what opens the castle.
Unpublished details
No written source we use documents a move-by-move attack list for the Starsinger. Every guide we checked either links a video without describing the attacks or covers only the health and phase data, so this page stops at what is verifiable.
No move-by-move attack list is published by the sources we use.
Forest King boss fight
The Forest King is the clearest example in Well Dweller of a fight where the health bar is not the objective. Emptying it does not end the encounter, and treating it like a normal boss fight is why people leave Autumn Forest without the Golden Feather they came for.
How the encounter actually resolves
- Fight the King in Autumn Forest, avoiding spikes and deadly leaves while chipping its health down with the matchstick.
- When the health bar is depleted, the fight does not end in a kill. Ilda arrives with an ancient seed.
- The King accepts the improved offering and is won over rather than killed.
- The event then yields a Golden Feather and opens the path onwards. The achievement is Fancy Feast, whose wording - "Win over the Forest King" - matches this resolution.
If you are standing around after the health bar empties wondering whether you missed a prompt, that prompt is Ilda's arrival. Do not leave the arena.
Hazards and fight notes
| Hazard | What to do |
|---|---|
| Spikes | Documented arena hazard; keep the fight away from spike positions rather than dodging into them |
| Deadly leaves | Documented attack hazard; treat leaves as the main thing to avoid while you reposition |
| Health bar depletion | Not the end of the event - stay for the offering sequence |
Hover is useful for traversal in the surrounding Autumn Forest, but no source we use says it is required inside the boss fight, so we do not list it as a boss requirement.
Why this Feather matters
Golden Feathers are the only hard gate on Queen's Castle: 7/7 or the gate stays shut. The Forest King event is one of the seven sources, listed in full on Well Dweller Golden Feathers: all 7 sources.
Unpublished details
There is no published move-by-move attack list for the Forest King, and no published phase threshold. We are not reconstructing one from footage.
Creature from the Deep boss fight
The Creature from the Deep is the fight at The Docks that most clearly teaches Hover. Both of its documented attacks are ground-level problems - a spike sweep and a shockwave - and both are answered by being airborne at the right moment rather than by dodging sideways.
Beating it does not award a "defeat" achievement. It unlocks water vessels, which is what the achievement Into the Deep actually tracks.
Health and structure
| Difficulty | Starting HP |
|---|---|
| Easy | 280 |
| Normal | 370 |
| Hard | 370 |
No phase transition is documented for this encounter, so plan around its two attacks rather than around a threshold.
Attacks and how to answer them
| Attack | What happens | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| Spike sweep | Spikes cross the arena | Hover to stay clear of the ground line |
| Ground shockwave | A shockwave travels along the floor | Hover over it |
| Overlapping pressure | Both hazards active together | Combine Hover with the dodge slide - Glimmer is invincible during the slide |
Damage windows and build notes
- Wait for an attack to finish, move in for several matchstick hits, then retreat. Trading hits during an attack is the mistake this fight punishes.
- Use Flaming Vessels during openings, not mid-approach.
- Healing boosts attack power temporarily, which makes a heal a damage window as well as a safety reset.
- For a vessel-focused setup, the published trinkets worth considering are Paper Clip with String (flaming vessel damage), Fish Hook (faster vessel refill at low health) and Pearl Jewelry (refill when you take damage). The catalog lists their general effects rather than prescribing them for this fight - full table on Well Dweller trinket database: all 32 effects and slots.
What beating it unlocks
- Barge promotes Glimmer to assistant captain, and that promotion is what opens access to the water vessels parked around The Docks.
- The matching achievement is Into the Deep - "Gain access to a water vessel", not a boss-defeat achievement. If your achievement list shows Into the Deep unlocked but no obvious boss row for this fight, that is correct.
- Water vessel access is the prerequisite chain that leads to The Deep and, later, to the The Colony encounter and Endless Climb.
Lida the Terrible boss fight
Lida the Terrible is fought inside GravenValley's execution event, and she is the boss most people meet by accident - you are there to interrupt a witch-burning, not to fight a boss. The fight has no achievement of its own; the collectible that follows it is what most players actually need.
Getting in
- Reach GravenValley after The Drains. It connects to Midnight Drench and, per the walkthrough, is reached from beside the Hunter's Cabin rather than by going deeper into The Bog.
- Get a ticket to the execution - the area's story provides it, and the boss only spawns as part of that event.
- Enter the witch-burning ceremony and cut the prisoners free - that action is what triggers Lida.
Fight strategy
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| General approach | Do not stand beside her chaining melee hits. Wait for her attack, then slide or jump out of range and re-enter for a short combo |
| When approaching is unsafe | Throw the matchstick as a projectile |
| At 50% health | The table becomes strategically useful - stay on it and press damage where you can while still sliding through attacks |
The 50% change is documented as a tactical shift, not as a labelled second phase, so treat it as advice rather than a threshold to time.
Abilities that matter: slides for invincibility frames, and the Slingshot/throwable matchstick for ranged damage. No source we use recommends a specific trinket loadout for this fight.
After the fight
Walk left and collect Egbert. That pickup - not the boss kill - is what unlocks Littlest Bird. Egbert is one of Glimmer's family rescue objectives, and the game tracks the rest of them for you: after Egbert the rescue message says four family members remain.
The other family objectives are documented on Well Dweller 100% checklist: every counter and what is still missing.
Unpublished details
There is no published move-by-move attack list for Lida, and no achievement is associated with defeating her - so this page does not present her as an achievement boss.

- Forest King: Still missing: the full attack list and any phase change. Left unpublished on purpose.
- Creature from the Deep: Still missing: a complete attack list beyond the two documented hazards, and whether the fight has a phase change. Not inferred from footage.
- Lida the Terrible: Still missing: her attack list. The walkthrough describes her pattern and the table tactic but does not name individual attacks, so neither do we.
