Well Dweller Rusty Fork: Low-Health Damage and Upgrade Costs

Rusty Fork costs 5 trinket slots and gives you more attack damage while you are at low health. It is the aggressive answer to the same situation Silver Spoon handles defensively: the moment where you are one hit from dying.

What Rusty Fork does

The in-game workshop shows you which wording you are buying, and the word changes as you pay: Rusty Fork reads slightly before the upgrade and moderately after it.

Rusty Fork upgrade costs

Two rules apply to every upgradeable trinket: every upgrade costs one Workshop Token regardless of the discount, and upgrading never increases the slot cost - the in-game text states that an upgraded trinket uses the same number of slots as before. Where to get Rusty Fork

Region: Hunter's Cabin, the pale-orange area - the same region where Looter's shop unlocks.

Abilities needed: the Gamer Guides checklist requires the Slingshot for this room. Gamer Social Club lists Wall Sling and Climb for the same pickup, which is consistent with reaching the room by a longer route.

Room solution (Gamer Guides' description): stand on the left side of the room, then throw the Matchstick into the wall beneath the Rusty Fork. Use the bubble to go up and around the top of the platform, then drop down onto your Matchstick and use it to reach the trinket above.

Rusty Fork versus the other damage trinkets

Four trinkets raise your damage and they all cost 5 slots, so the choice is about when the bonus applies, not how much you get:

Rusty Fork and Cracked Marble are exact opposites, which makes running both pointless: one of the two is always switched off. Silver Ring costs one more slot and has no condition at all, which is why it is the trinket most builds end up on - see Well Dweller Silver Ring: damage trinket and its price.

One footnote on Scrap of Fabric: its airborne bonus is halved during the Dollmaker's Mirror fight, giving only 0.5 / 0.75 / 1 bonus damage. If you rely on airborne damage, that is the fight where the build underperforms.
